The 2026 RPL pack
Everything in one document: eligibility, the evidence list, the employer and client testimony forms, and the mapping grid for all 113 criteria. Our fees come on a separate Inspiratus fee sheet, so you can see exactly what we charge and what it covers.

Download the pack
The RPL Mapping Report 2026 holds the rules, the fees, the testimony forms and the mapping grid. Fill it in on screen or print it.

Check you are eligible
Section B: your qualification and transcript, your Level 2 certificate, and personal training work with real clients within the last two years.

Collect your evidence
Certificate and transcript, CV, an employer or peer testimony, a client testimony and one real client programme. Label each file A to F.

What you’ll need
- ✦ Your main qualification certificate and its full transcript or module list
- ✦ A CV with dates, showing PT work within the last two years
- ✦ An employer or peer testimony and a client testimony, on our forms
- ✦ One real client profile and programme (anonymised)
- ✦ Your Level 2 Fitness or Gym Instruction certificate, a safeguarding certificate, and CPD if your qualification is over three years old
- ✦ Unit 8: your HMRC UTR or Companies House number and business records, or the Task D report
Full eligibility criteria
- ✦ A comparable substantial qualification, or a higher level qualification, in sport, exercise or fitness, with its transcript.
- ✦ Current, extensive experience as a personal trainer with real clients in a live training environment.
- ✦ Evidence that you have worked as a personal trainer within the last two years.
- ✦ A regulated Level 2 qualification in Fitness or Gym Instruction, or equivalent.
- ✦ Aged 16 or over. You cannot work as a personal trainer without supervision until you are 18.

Frequently asked
Who is this for?
Experienced personal trainers working with real clients, who hold a comparable or higher level qualification in sport, exercise or fitness (for example a sport and exercise science degree) and a Level 2 Fitness or Gym Instruction qualification. You must have worked as a personal trainer within the last two years.
Do I have to complete Unit 8 (the business unit)?
Unit 8 covers running a personal training enterprise. If you have been self-employed or run your own business, you evidence it with your real business records, plus your HMRC UTR or Companies House number (£180). If not, you complete the Task D PT Enterprise Report (£240). Ask for the Task D template before you pay.
How much does it cost?
£180 if you evidence Unit 8 from your own business, or £240 including the Task D assessment. This covers registration, the RPL assessment and internal moderation. If your outcome is part achieved, each outstanding unit is £60, and a live observation, if needed, is £300 plus travel.
How do I send my pack and evidence?
Email your completed pack and your labelled evidence files to services@inspiratus.org.uk. If the files are large, send them in two or three emails, or ask us for an upload link. We will confirm receipt and invoice you.
What if my evidence isn't enough?
We check your eligibility and your mapping before you pay, so there are no surprises. If our assessor needs more after you submit, they will tell you exactly what. Where your testimonies and client programme cannot confirm a practical skill, we arrange a live observation.
When does the online portal open?
It is built and in final testing. When it opens you will be able to upload your evidence, get AI-guided feedback on every criterion and submit online. The rules, the evidence and the fees are exactly the same as in the pack.
